7 Things You Should Do Everyday

If you're anything like me you might find that days can become monotonous. At work, minutes feel like hours and you're just counting down the hours to get back home, but it doesn't have to be like that. You should value the time you have and enjoy every day so I thought I'd start today on a positive - 10 things you should do everyday.

1. Compliment each other

This is was definitely the top choice for me. Especially if you notice someone around you isn't in the best mood. Let them know that they're looking really lovely today and that colour really suits them! It will not only make them feel better but it will make you feel good about yourself too. It's the little things that count, even if you like her nail varnish colour or his new watch, say it! We all need a little confidence boost now and then.

2. If you see somebody struggling then help them

I know a lot of people (like myself) stay quiet, not because they're rude or don't care but just because they're too shy to go up to people and ask to help but really it's not as scary as it seems. For instance, if you see an elderly lady needing help with her shopping or if someone's car has broken down in the middle of the road then help them! It's hard when you're trying to get on with your daily routine and something unfortunate happens. We begin to stress and panic but that's exactly when we need a bit of help and reassurance. It will mean a lot to that person and it will (hopefully) make them want to help others in the future.

3. Sing!

This one is a bit different and fun but it is as equally important! If you start the day listening and singing along to your favourite song (even if it's in the shower or in the car with the music on full blast) singing will instantly make you feel a whole lot better and get you ready for the day! It releases endorphins in your brain which makes you feel positive and happy.

4. Don't take everything personally

A customer at work might be rude to you, or a family member seems to be annoyed and say something they don't necessarily mean. We all get moments when we're having a bad day and we forget about the people around us, so if someone is tutting at you or is getting annoyed at you, then take it with a pinch of salt. You don't know what their day has been like. It doesn't hurt to ask your family how their day has been or ask what's been bothering them, you'll realise that you haven't done anything wrong so don't beat yourself up over it.

5. Make your bed every morning

I'm not here to sound like your Mum, but this has stuck with me for a while. Some days you might feel like you haven't accomplished anything but knowing that you have done at least one job today does make you feel that bit better. You have already started the day with accomplishment from the moment you got out of bed. It will increase your productivity for the day ahead. Plus, it will make your room look cleaner and nicer to come home too!

6. Relax

Nothing is as important as it first seems. Remember that every day is a day in your life and they are numbered so there is no point stressing over little things. You become a different person when you're stress, scared and upset so don't get lost in the little things. If it's not going to matter in 48 hours then there's no need to stress over it. If you meditate every morning you will be more mindful and aware of your actions and emotions so consider it to be part of your morning routine.

7. Do what you love!

Find a hobby you love doing, it can be something big or small. If you love painting, running or building then give yourself a project to do! Keep active. Don't think that when you come home from work or school that you have a few hours to be lazy, do what you're passionate about. You'll enjoy the day a lot more and feel like you have accomplished a lot in the day. You have a number of days, spend them wisely!
